Peek a Boo!

Here is Baby Nora awake for a few minutes this morning. She is still under the bright lights for most of the day. We get to pull her off for a few minutes at a time to work on breastfeeding. At this point, her rountine is to snuggle up against me and immediately fall asleep. After a few minutes of this, we give her a tiny bottle of milk from a bottle. If she still needs to eat more, the nurse drips the remainder of her milk into a tiny feeding tube that runs to her stomach. Luckily, only a tiny remainder of the food is needing to go through the tube just now. We will keep trying to breastfeed, although the bottles are just so much easier for her, it is hard to see what her motivation is to breastfeed at this point since she knows she can get them milk from a nice easy bottle!

  1. She is such a cutie!
Don't be discouraged on the breast feeding...gestationally, she is still supposed to be sleeping a lot, as if she were inside. Good work keeping the dairy queens going. All sounds encouraging. For a premie, she looks robust in these pictures!
    How are you feeling?

  2. She seems strong for being so little. She likes to suck on her pacifier and likes to rip off the little leads they stick on her chest and the little velcro sunglasses the put on her. She seems to be strong for being so little!

I am feeling a ton better. Still waddling around because of the stitches, but can tell it gets easier each day. I seem less dependent on the pains meds each day to get up and mover around. I have been napping each day to try to heal faster and I think it will help my milk production which has been pretty low - but interestingly not really much lower than Nora needs. It is weird how somehow I think my body knows she doesn't need too much just yet.

  3. Hi Amy,

You are doing a great job with that little bundle of joy. She seems so strong for just a little girl. Keep going on the breastfeeding and get your rest. She is so adorable, and I'll be up later to see her. If you need anything be sure to let me know.

    Sue
